Students begin by identifying the title, artist, and year of the artwork before working through four stages of an art critique:

  • Describir: Students describe what they literally see in the artwork.
  • Examinar: Students identify artistic elements such as colors, shapes, lines, and textures.
  • Interpretar: Students consider the message the artist is trying to communicate.
  • Crítica: Students share their opinion, analyze patterns and visual balance, and make personal connections to the artwork.
